About MDDC
Mine Detection Dog Center in Bosnia and Herzegovina provides support in implementing demining projects and implements the mine risk education projects; conducts training of mine, narcotics, explosive and search and rescue dogs, dog handlers and dog trainers and issues the certificates on completed training courses. MDDC proposes technical and safety standards for use of mine detection dogs in Bosnia and Herzegovina and wider and cooperates closely with mine action centers and other professional bodies within the demining field.
Beginnings
The Association Mine Detection Dog Center in Bosnia and Herzegovina – MDDC – was registered on 15.09.2010 in the Registry of Ministry of Justice of BIH. The Association took over all rights and obligations from the work of Mine Detection Dog Center for the region of South East Europe.
MDDC was established in December 2002, in accordance with the Memorandum of Understanding signed on 22.10.2002 between Ministry of Civil Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, US State Department Office for Humanitarian Demining and International Trust Fund for Demining and Mine Victims Assistance, and based on the Decision of the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina (Official Gazette of BiH, No. 38/02). The funds required for construction of MDDC and operational costs for the initial three years of operations were provided by the US State Department. The Mine Detection Dog Center for South East Europe became operational on 14.10.2003.
