Beginning of October 2011 is an official date of start of Mine Detection Dog Center (MDDC) deployment in Angola.

This project is carried out through Marshall Legacy Institute from USA, who trusted MDDC with the implementation of this project, after negotiations with National Demining Institute in Angola (INAD). During the first two months, two dog teams from MDDC will demonstrate the efficiency of mine detection dog teams in the field in two provinces in Angola contaminated with mines, while the next eight months two MDDC instructors will conduct the training and integration of six mine detection dog teams in Angola. The goal of this project is to build the mine detection dog capacities in Angola, who mainly used the machines in demining activities until now. MDDC trained six green dogs for this project, while INAD representatives built the facilities for accommodating the dogs, as well as all supporting capacities required for successful implementation of the project. It is expected that after successfully completed training and integration of dog teams, this project in Angola will be extended.
